Children's Privacy

This is for parents and guardians. It explains what Edunara Tutoring collects from a child, what we do with it, and how you control all of it.
It applies to every learner under 18. If your child is under 13, some additional US rules apply and we treat their account more strictly still.
The short version
- Anyone under 18 cannot book a lesson until a parent or guardian has said yes.
- We ask for permission before we do anything, not after.
- We collect the least we can, we never sell it, and we never advertise to children.
- You can see it, correct it, delete it or withdraw permission at any time.
How permission works
When a child signs up and gives their date of birth, they are asked for a parent or guardian’s email address. Their account is created but locked: the database itself refuses to create a booking or a lesson for them.
We email you a one-time link. It explains everything on this page, lists what you can agree to separately, and asks you to sign by typing your name. The link works once and expires after seven days.
We keep a record of what you were shown, what you ticked, the name you signed with and when. That record is how we can prove we had your permission.
If you were not expecting our email, ignore it and the account stays locked forever. Or write to us and we will delete it outright.
What you can agree to separately
Only one thing is required: the tutoring service itself, which is the account, matching your child with a tutor, running lessons and billing them. Everything else is yours to decide, and saying no to any of it does not stop your child having lessons.
- Live video and audio lessons — Let your child join live video lessons. Video and audio are streamed by our video provider, Whereby, and are never recorded or stored. Without this, lessons still work using text chat, the shared code editor and the whiteboard.
- Sharing files in lessons — Let your child upload and download files during a lesson, such as worksheets or photographs of their working. Files are visible only to the people in that lesson.
- Progress updates to you — Email you a summary of your child's attendance and the tutor's notes on their progress.
- News and offers — Email you occasionally about new subjects and offers. Nothing here is ever sent to the child, and you can stop it at any time.
We will not make your child give us more than we need in order to take part. That is a rule we follow, not a preference.
What we collect from a child
- Your child's name, email address, date of birth and, if given, their school and year group
- Your name, email address and relationship to the child
- A record of every lesson: when it ran, who taught it, how long it lasted and what was covered
- Anything your child types or uploads during a lesson — chat, code, whiteboard drawings and files
- Technical information needed to keep the account secure, such as sign-in times
We do not record or store lesson video or audio, and we do not collect location data, contacts, photographs of faces, voiceprints, or anything else used to identify someone biometrically.
What we never do with it
- We do not record or store lesson video or audio
- We do not show advertising to anyone, and we never sell personal information
- We do not build profiles of children or track them across other websites
- We do not use anything a child does on the platform to target them with anything
Who we give it to
Your child’s tutor sees their name, subjects, lesson history and progress notes, because that is what teaching them requires. Other learners in a group lesson see their name only.
Beyond that, only our service providers handle it, and only on our instructions: Supabase stores the data in Mumbai, Vercel runs the website, Whereby carries live video without recording it, and Resend sends our emails. Each is required to keep it confidential and to secure it.
We do not give a child’s information to anyone else for their own purposes, and we would ask you separately before we ever did.
How long we keep it
Only as long as we need it for the reason we collected it. The full schedule, category by category, is in our privacy policy. The consent record itself we keep for three years after the account closes, because it is the proof that we had your permission.
What you can do, at any time
- Ask to see everything we hold about your child. We will send it to you.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete your child’s information and close the account.
- Withdraw your permission. The account locks again immediately and no more lessons can be booked.
- Refuse any further collection while leaving what has already been collected alone.
Write to privacy@edunaratutoring.com. We will check you are the parent or guardian on record before we act, and answer within 30 days.
When a child grows up
On the day a learner turns 18, the account stops needing a guardian and becomes theirs alone. We recalculate this every night, so it happens on time rather than whenever someone notices. The consent record you signed is kept as history.
If we ever change this
If we want to collect something new, or use what we have in a new way, we will ask you again. We will not treat permission you gave for one thing as permission for another.
